Penny oversees the development and implementation of green building policies and procedures for new buildings at UBC. She is a registered Architect and brings her experience working on sustainable buildings in private practice to her role on campus. Her work covers campus academic buildings and residential projects in the neighbourhoods. Her current focus is work on UBC’s first Green Building Plan.
In private practice Penny worked on research, design and construction of leading sustainable institutional projects. She worked on the first LEED platinum building in Canada, the Gulf Islands National Park Operations Centre, in Sidney B.C., as well as the VanDusen Garden Visitor Centre, in Vancouver B.C., which is LEED platinum and targeting both Living Building Certification and net zero energy design.
