Paul Backewich brings over 25 years of experience in the design and construction of a wide variety of building types ranging from regional malls to corporate headquarters. His varied experience on all phases of a project make him a valuable asset to any team, with added abilities to develop master plans, craft construction details and develop winning presentation packages. Having had the benefit of working with many of the country’s top development corporations, Paul has an understanding of the level of quality, timely delivery and the need for high creativity necessary to meet the demands of any client group. An imaginative designer and illustrator, Paul has worked with the office of Bruce Mau Design as a contributor to the book SMLXL by Rem Koolhaas and OMA, as well as many of Canada’s top design offices including DIALOG and Diamond Schmitt Architects. Paul is a strong advocate of hand drawing and sketching and its continued value to the architectural profession, especially working hand-in-hand with computer documentation. He continues to serve as an active mentor with both the Ontario Association of Architects and the CaGBC. He joined WZMH in 2018 and was appointed to Associate in 2019.
